Funny to go to France, the home of haute cuisine, why would we have a chinese meal for dinner??? Why indeed you might ask, but the answer is in the eating. For many years we've appreciated the fantastic food at the Chinese restaurant in Trouville. Page after page of different dishes, all delicious and fantastically prepared.

We started with nemms- the best of the spring rolls, dipped in a sweet vinegar- steamed pork dumplings and fried pork dumplings. Then we had a spread of main dishes; I chose beef with onions (a little disappointing that the onions were undercooked and still bitter), we also had Canard aux 5 parfums on bean sprouts, spare ribs in salt and pepper, some plain boiled rice and a chicken noodle mix.

Hector was very excited throughout at this his first attempt at using (aka playing with) chop-sticks. At times there were noodles flying everywhere and I was having to apologise in my best French to the other patrons around us. As we were eating John Lynam, Bryan's brother, happened to spot us as he was walking past so stopped for a chat. It was nice to meet him again as I'd not come across him for nearly ten years.

So much food had been presented to us that there was literally more than we could handle. Hector took it as a personal challenge to finish the meal but was well and truly defeated. He could barely sit up straight and chose instead to collapse on the table and spent quite a while groaning in pretend agony. At the mention of dessert by the waitress he was of course perfectly alright but there was no way we had room for it.
