The long journey was all a bit too much for Hector so he stopped at the Hotel for a quiet nap. Allan spoke to John Hammond who said he had two runners at the "Hippodrome de Deauville" so we left Hector to sleep off his weariness and putting on some smat clothes, left for the races. Parking took a while as it was a big day but after looking around town we ended parking near the 'place provincale'.

Wandering in, we paid the E3 entrance fee and rang the trainer who told us he was in the Panoramic Restaurant with Bryan Lynam and his daughter Genevieve so we went up to have a drink with them. What a splendid place to eat, a perfect view over the entire course and with plasma screens everywhere showing the full coverage. It was very pleasant and really nice to see Bryan again, more so to see Genevieve as I'd not seen her for 9 years.
What a change, the difference between 3 and 12 is incredible. She was quite interested in the racing but more keen to get on to the polo. Hector would have really enjoyed the experience of the restaurant and to meet these lovely friends of ours. We also spoke to Michell Zorolo for a while before departing and heading back to relax in the hotel.

Dad had a nap and Hector and I went to sit in the sun before going out for Dinner in Trouville. We ate at a new restaurant; I had pate followed by Moules avec Gruyere, Chevre et Creme; Dad had Soup au Poisson, his favourite, followed by Moules et frites with a curry sauce. These were quite odd combinations but my cheese sauce was fantastic, complemented by some excellent mussels. Whilst Hector came along he didn't order anything, later revealing that while in the room he had been secretly eating his way through the peanuts form the mini bar! I can assure you that he will be earning his keep for that extravagance.
