Paying for the peanuts

A moment of selfless gratification when Hector couldn't resist the small box of peanuts left beside the mini bar has cost us a not so modest price on the room bill, but being a good chap he 'volunteered' to earn the money back. After discussions with the management it was agreed that Hector could put on a show to entertain the guests in the evening just after dinner time. This suited us as we like to eat later while most of the families staying in this hotel seem to be in the restaurant by seven.

Hector revealed many talents this evening. He demonstrated very delicate paws on the baby grand piano at the bar, a stunning white Steinbach, and rattled of a superb routine of Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin numbers with a few ABBA songs thrown in to keep the kids happy. Mid way through the show he abandonned to the keys to take to the shoulder of one of the statues where he sang New York, New York to an admiring audience as the regular pianist took over.
